Opening Night Drinks Reception Friday, November 8th, 2019 @ 7:00 pm
The Ben Oakley Gallery has worked closely with both artists over its illustrious 10 years situated in Greenwich London SE10.
David Bray has gone through a total art transformation from producing exquisite fine art Illustrations to his current delivery of abstract landscapes. Since moving to the Garden of England only a few years ago he has produced a fantastic body of accomplished landscape paintings, as though he’s been painting all his life. The depth, movement and mood that Bray manages to layer into his Turner esq vignettes are nothing short of breath taking.
Mark Melvin has always loved the world of art, including the old Masters and Renaissance painters but was propelled in the contemporary art world after watching a film of one of our most established Artists Ray Richardson on BBC2 many years ago. It was then Melvin had his epiphany and enough inspiration from that alone to begin a career in the art world. After teaching himself Melvin began to create paintings in oil of exactly what was disappearing right in front of him, London, Architecture especially Brutalism, including the graffiti covered hoardings and barriers as London got gentrified. His love of Brutalist architecture has had Melvin running all over town for the last ten years to find remaining interesting buildings, sketching initially then taking them into the studio to complete each painting.
We are proud to present them both in this two-man show. COUNTY LINES
