Kim Tong’s practice consists of,sumptuous layered glazed oil paintings that combine figurative, symbolic and abstract elements, digital prints, figurative drawings and etchings.
The intricate etchings on show are part of a suite called ‘The Pecking Order’ which will be featuring in the first issue of a journal being printed by Ragged Lion Press.
The renowned publishers of Art, Film & Poetry by Gerard Malanga who worked with Warhol & established beat poets Andy Clausen, Gregory Corso & Ginsberg.
Whilst at Goldsmiths Kim completed her PhD The Sur(real) Sublime (1997) which played with conventional structures of text, word and image with reference to the work of Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse, Helen Chadwick, Alison Wilding and contemporary British art of the 1990s.
