“Painted during the recent UK lockdown, during various stages of government restrictions, these landscapes are a mix of ‘en-plein-air’ studies and imagined views.
It became apparent while I was painting them that they were capturing moments in time, the sun being the most consistent motif throughout.
Taking myself off into the wilds of the countryside felt like an adventure – especially for a tired, weak old git. Like a geriatric Vasco de Gama in a Toyota Corolla.
If I wasn’t able to step outside, it was time to explore inner space. Like a suburban Timothy Leary on prescription medicine.”
